The St David’s Day Stravaganza Concert certainly fulfilled its title. The audience were wowed by 5 performances of music by Welsh composers; Mathias, Karl Jenkins, Grace Williams and an arrangement by Jeff Howard. The UK premiere of Karl Jenkins’ saxophone concerto was given a thrilling performance by Jess Gillam; a finalist of BBC Young Musician. The small party of pupils the Music department took to watch the performance were thrilled, and Year 12 James got to meet Sir Karl Jenkins in person!
