Ffynone pupils have been practising hard for many months for the prestigious Top of the Bench competition that took place at the University of Swansea’s Chemistry Department on December 12th. Sixteen of them competed, making up a total of 4 teams.
Every single pupil represented the school wonderfully, showing courage, enthusiasm and knowledge at all times. We had a huge number of achievements. Maccabee topped the Kahoot round for Year 11 whilst only being a Year 10 pupil. Tom and Celeste both placed 3rd in their Kahoot rounds. We are extremely proud of Lili, Imogen, Alice and Abu who made it through to the final and took part in an intense round of questioning in front of a lecture theatre full of other pupils and teachers. Amazing!
Special thank you to Mohammed from Year 13 who has helped coach the teams all term, leading by example and sharing his experiences. Thank you to former winner Jayan for being head cheerleader on the day. And huge thanks to Mrs. Hillier for her help during the event, for embracing the lab coat and enjoying being a scientist for the day. You have all been an absolute delight.
