Ffynone Peer & Academic Awards 2025

Final voting occurred for this year’s Peer Awards a week before the end of term.. Our Year 7-10 Awards took place for the first time last year and we’ve made a couple of updates in response to student feedback.

Last year, we had just one round of voting and only one person was recognised in each category in each form group when they won the award. This year, we have had an initial nomination round and then a second round. Here, students were able to see all those who had been nominated and then choose between those who had had the biggest share of the votes. This has been a much more inclusive process and has allowed all students to see where they have been recognised by peers as having these important personal qualities.

We have also added a seventh award, that of ‘Mentor’ as a result of a number of requests from students last year to be able to recognise a peer who is both skilled and helpful, be this in a practical or academic area.

It’s been lovely to see the smiles on our students’ faces when they see their name up on one of these slides and it’s made the whole process even more positive. We also wanted to share the nominations with our wider community, as we know you will be proud, too. Each year group has a separate video showing the nominations.

The final winners were announced, alongside our Subject Scholar awards on Thursday afternoon in a special and rather raucous ceremony!
