Ffynone produces more great chemists!

Three fantastic teams — and it could easily have been more — represented the school at the annual Top of the Bench competition at Swansea University. https://edu.rsc.org/enrichment/top-of-the-bench. After weeks of fun-filled practice sessions during TOC, our pupils delivered an outstanding performance on the day. They represented the school beautifully and, most importantly, had a great time.

A huge well done to:

• Maccabee – 2nd place in the Year 11 Kahoot

• Celeste – Winner of the Year 10 Kahoot

• Rosie – Winner of the Year 8 Kahoot

• Imogen (Y10) – For bravely taking on the Year 11 questions!

After a busy morning, the team of Maccabee, Celeste, Sully and Angelica progressed to the head-to-head final, battling through nine intense rounds of individual and team questions. They kept their cool throughout and emerged overall winners!

A huge thank you to Dr Hanford for preparing our budding chemists so brilliantly for the competition.

The team now looks forward to the national final. Well done to everyone involved — a brilliant achievement for Ffynone!

Ffynone students are no strangers to the Top Of The Bench competition. In 2024, a team of four of our pupils reached the final. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience, although they didn’t win. Read more about it here: https://ffynonehouseschool.co.uk/fhs-chemists-in-scotland-final/
