Yesterday, Year 9 pupils were presented with certificates in recognition of their participation in the GCHQ National Language Competition, which took place in November. Working in teams, pupils spent an intensive and enjoyable week tackling a wide range of puzzles and brain-teasers, from the straightforward to the highly challenging.
With just three teams (nine pupils in total) competing against more than 2,700 teams from across the UK, the competition was not so much about winning for Ffynone pupils. It was about developing valuable skills and gaining meaningful experience. Throughout the week, pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork, strong problem-solving abilities, resilience and perseverance. The pupils’ enthusiasm grew as the competition progressed, and they embraced the challenges with increasing confidence and determination, thoroughly enjoying the experience.

A special recognition award went to Angelica for her dedication and perseverance throughout the week. If she had had the opportunity to do it, Angelica would have spent day and night solving enigmas!
“I am extremely proud of Year 9 pupils for throwing themselves wholeheartedly into this competition. They had a lot of fun working out the puzzles and worked very well together. Well done Year 9!” – Madame Robert
