Before the Easter break, our Year 10 GCSE Business students were given an exciting real-world challenge: design a brand-new Easter egg for a specific target market. This wasn’t just about chocolate – students had to apply their Business knowledge across the entire marketing mix, thinking like real entrepreneurs.
Their brief was to:
- Identify a gap in the Easter egg market
- Choose a target market
- Design the product and packaging
- Set a realistic price, using research on current market prices
- Plan how and where the product would be sold
- Deliver a professional business pitch to their teacher and Deputy Head
We saw some fantastic ideas aimed at all kinds of consumers – from fun, child-friendly designs to luxury adult eggs, and even vegan-friendly options.
One standout idea came from Vinnie, Darcey and Oliver, who pitched “Ethicoco” – an ethical, vegan chocolate egg aimed at younger customers. Their research showed there’s a real shortage of vegan-friendly Easter options, especially for children. As a vegan herself, Vinnie shared her frustration at the lack of choice, which helped bring passion and authenticity to the group’s pitch. The team impressed everyone with their thoughtful branding, slick presentation – and even a catchy jingle!
Deputy Head Mrs Miles and Business Teacher Mrs Cooper were blown away by the students’ creativity, research, and commercial awareness. Well done to all of Year 10 for your fantastic ideas and enthusiasm – you’ve truly shown the future of business is bright!
